LILBURN - Gwinnett County vice investigators arrested three men Wednesday and seized thousands of dollars in cash and other evidence in what they are calling an illegal gambling operation.
Mohammad Bedarul Hussain, 45, of Cumming; Md Abdul Kalam Azad, 54, of Decatur; and Francisco Nunez-Alvarez, 52, of Lilburn face charges ranging from misdemeanor gambling to keeping a place of gambling, records show. Acting on citizens' tips, authorities said they began an "extensive investigation" on possible illegal activities taking place at the Shell gas station at 915 Indian Trail-Lilburn Road. That investigation produced enough evidence to get a search warrant, which netted $50,000 in cash, seven video gambling machines, 160 pirated music CDs, more than 100 counterfeit baseball caps and two handguns. Hussain, the store owner, and Azad, an employee, have posted bond, jail records show. Alvarez, a patron, remains at the Gwinnett County Jail.More like this story
