SUWANEE - The Association of Christian Schools International has accredited Horizon Christian School as an early childhood education center, officials said.
The ministry of Horizon Baptist Church on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road offers preschool and kindergarten classes, said Judy Wintemute, school director. To become accredited, schools must work through a self-study process to identify their major strengths and areas of needed improvements, said Alice Brownlee, ACSI Southeast Region assistant director of early education services. The schools must also meet standards in areas such as administration, curriculum, health and safety, food and nutrition, and family and community services. The school received commendations for its cultural diversity and curriculum, Wintemute said. "We're really, really proud of our school and our staff," she said. "We hope our school will continue to be a blessing for the community around us." The accreditation lasts for five years.More like this story
