DULUTH - Gwinnett authorities apprehended a Louisiana man wanted for a shooting in his home state as he perused Gwinnett Place Mall last weekend.
Antonio Donnell Sumler, 31, allegedly shot a man eight times with a handgun in June in Monroe, La. The victim survived his injuries.
Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department deputies received a tip from Louisiana authorities last week that Sumler might be in the area, said Stacey Bourbonnais, the department's spokeswoman.
"Through their investigation, (deputies) developed information on Saturday that led them to Gwinnett Place Mall," Bourbonnais said.
Deputies spotted and apprehended Sumler in the food court area, she said.
Sumler is being held at the Gwinnett County Jail without bond, awaiting extradition back to Louisiana, where he faces charges of attempted second degree murder, Bourbonnais said.
