LAWRENCEVILLE - A Sunday night lightning blast displaced a family of five from their Castle Royal Drive home in Lawrenceville, officials said.
A storm was sweeping through the area when a neighbor reported the fire about 8:30 p.m. Nobody was home at the time, and no injuries were reported, said Fire Department Capt. Thomas Rutledge.
"Neighbors reported hearing a loud boom and seeing a bright flash of lightning minutes before the fire," he said.
The blaze caused heavy damage to the two-story structure, Rutledge said.
The displaced family - two adults and three children - did not request Red Cross assistance.
