Smithsonian Networks Nature Series (NR)
Movie: 3 1/2 out of 4 stars Disc: 3 1/2 out of 4 stars On a par with anything produced by higher profile documentary/nature studios, the Smithsonian Networks films are one of the industry's best-kept secrets. The four enthralling titles released this week are perfect for low-budget family viewing. Filmed off the coast of Australia, "The Big Blue" examines the feeding habits of the world's largest animal. Guyana provides the setting for the thrilling "Wanted: Anaconda," while the more serene "Pandas in the Wild" ventures to China's Quinling Mountains. The most visually impressive is "Sky View" with its arresting aerial images of Europe. All titles are sold separately and range in length from 47 to 106 minutes. Technical specifications: · Aspect ratio: Full screen (4x3) · Audio: English (Dolby Surround) · Subtitles: none. Special features include: · "Footprints on the Water: The Nan Hauser Story" (from "The Big Blue") (Smithsonian Networks, $14.98, $9.98)More like this story
