LAWRENCEVILLE - Two people transported by helicopter from an auto accident over the weekend are expected to recover, police said.
Bryan M. Lake, 26, of Sugar Hill, and Judith A. Ordway, 52, of Buford were extricated by firefighters after their cars collided on Buford Dam Road at about 4:38 p.m. Saturday.
According to a police report, Lake's black Dodge Ram pickup truck crossed the double solid yellow line, into the path of Ordway's gold Lincoln Continental. A third vehicle, a blue Honda Ridgeline driven by Ralph O. Richards, 48, of Cumming, was struck as the driver was trying to avoid the wreck.
Richards and a passenger in his car were not injured, but both Lake and Ordway suffered sever injuries and were air-lifted to Grady Memorial Hospital, the report said. Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors in the collision. The investigation is continuing.
Fire Capt. Thomas Rutledge said Buford Dam Road, near Old Garrett Road, was closed as firefighters worked to extricate the victims.
