Prepare yourself for pink as perpetually perky fashionista Elle Woods shows audiences that being true to yourself is always in style.
"Legally Blonde The Musical" is in its final weekend run at Atlanta's Fabulous Fox Theatre, featuring the original touring cast, including actress Becky Gulsvig, who is taking a turn in Elle's stilettos.
"'Legally Blonde The Musical' is a great family show, though on the surface you may think it is only for girls because it's all pink," Gulsvig said. "The men and boys actually have a great time. There's humor and entertainment for all ages and it's really just a great time. The element of song and dance just makes it that much more fun."
Gulsvig was understudy for the role of Elle in the original Broadway production, which opened in 2007.
"Elle Woods is a very fun character," she said. "She's silly and lighthearted but at the same time ... she can be a little more than her great hair and fabulous clothes."
Gulsvig said she can relate to Elle.
"I know what it's like to follow your dreams and stay true to yourself," she said. "This business is a tricky thing to conquer so I really understand having to have the Elle Woods spirit."
Also appearing on stage in the musical production is Atlanta native Amber Efe, who is a member of the show's ensemble.
"It's much smarter than people think it will be, kind of like Elle Woods," the 29-year-old said of the show. "People leave and think, 'Wow, that was a lot smarter than I ever thought it would be. I thought it was going to be a big, marvelous ball of pink and it's so much more than that.'"
