Based on the 1975 documentary of the same name, "Grey Gardens" tells the story of "Big" Edie Beale (Jessica Lange) and her daughter "Little" Edie (Drew Barrymore), the aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy. A divorce, the slow loss of wealth and the disconnection of ties to blue blood society couldn't force Big Edie out of her sprawling East Hampton estate. Covering a half century, the film chronicles the two women's descent into poverty, dementia and failing health, yet is overflowing with genuine uplift and touching oddball sentiment.
