Gas-station bandit sought

WINDER - Winder police are asking for the public's help in catching a bandanna-clad robber who hit a Shell Food Mart on Monday.

The robbery happened about 11 p.m. at the 53 Monroe Highway store. The suspect, wearing a bandanna around his face, aimed a semi-automatic handgun at employees and made off with an unspecified amount of cash, police said.

Winder police spokeswoman Rachel Love described the robber as a white man of average height and build. He had dark hair and a tattoo on his lower left leg, Love said.

The suspect fled in a teal Chevy Camaro with T-tops. Police believe the car is a late 1980s or early 1990s model.

Investigators are in the process of reviewing the store's surveillance video and interviewing witnesses, Love said.

No surveillance images were provided.
