LAWRENCEVILLE - Adults who buy lunch at a Gwinnett County school cafeteria will now have to pay a little bit more.
The price of an adult lunch has increased from $2.50 to $3. Federal regulations require the price for an adult meal covers the cost of production, Gwinnett County Public Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana said.
"Due to the fact that the cost of producing a meal has gone up during these economic challenges, the school system was faced with making the adjustment to compensate for the additional increase," Quintana said. "We hope that at $3 a meal our visiting parents and employees will continue to enjoy a nutritious meal at this low price."
Prices for students will remain the same during the 2009-10 year. The regular price is $1.75 for elementary school students and $2 for middle and high school students.
