Old Norcross to close for work
Old Norcross Road from Hurricane Shoals Road to Pike Street in Lawrenceville will close to through traffic today at 7 p.m. for railroad repairs and repaving.
It will remain closed until Saturday at 4 p.m. The detour will be Old Norcross Road to Hurricane Shoals Road to Duluth Highway and the reverse.
The same route will close again for the same repairs on July 17 at 7 p.m. lasting until July 18 at 4 p.m. For further information contact Georgia Paving at 404-831-1000.
BOE names three new principals
SUWANEE - During its meeting Thursday, the Gwinnett County Board of Education approved the appointments of three new principals who graduated from the district's Quality-Plus Leader Academy.
Kimberly McDermon, assistant principal at Norcross Elementary, will succeed Allan Gee as principal of Centerville Elementary. Gee is moving out of state.
Penelope "Penny" Clavijo, assistant principal at Rosebud Elementary, will fill the vacancy at Hopkins Elementary created by Pagie Ryals' retirement.
Clayborn Knight, assistant principal at Winn Holt Elementary, will lead Nesbit Elementary, as James Rayford assumes a new position as principal on special assignment focusing on student mentoring.
