SUWANEE - Gwinnett County Public Schools officials said the district's 10 new schools will be ready for students when classes resume in a month.
During a presentation Thursday to the Gwinnett County Board of Education, Area Superintendent Calvin Watts said effective planning and cross-divisional collaboration are key to successfully opening a new school. "The physical completion of a new school facility is not an end," Watts said. "It is a beginning." The new schools opening this summer are Archer High School, Mountain View High School, Bay Creek Middle School, Couch Middle School, North Gwinnett Middle School, Twin Rivers Middle School, Starling Elementary School, White Oak Elementary School, Woodward Mill Elementary School and a replacement building for J.G. Dyer Elementary Schools. Community members will be able to tour the new facilities during the schools' open houses, scheduled for July 19, 25 or 26. The new school year begins Aug. 10.
