BUFORD - Police on Tuesday identified the three victims of an Interstate 85 crash as travelers who lost control of their vehicle for unknown reasons.
The Monday evening wreck south of Ga. Highway 20 claimed the lives of Cesar Augusto Gereda Lopez, 35, of Guatemala, and Wilzon Aguilar, 44, of Dallas, Texas.
The driver, 35-year-old Guillermo Gamero, also of Texas, was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center with injuries that weren't life-threatening, police said.
The three men were traveling north when Gamero lost control of the 1998 Ford Explorer he was driving about 7:15 p.m., Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said.
The vehicle overturned several times, then flipped over a guardrail and continued down and embankment into a wooded area before coming to a rest.
Lopez and Aguilar died at the scene.
The cause remains under investigation, Schiralli said.
