SNELLVILLE - A 3-year-old boy was evaluated Wednesday at an Atlanta hospital after nearly drowning in a private pool, authorities said.
The child, who was not identified, was alert and breathing when emergency personnel responded to a backyard pool in the 4100 block of Zoar Church Road in Snellville. The boy had been swimming with family when he went under about 3:40 p.m. His mother told authorities she had been in the pool with her boy and turned away "for only a minute," Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge said. The boy was out of the water when firefighters arrived. He was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital for evaluation, Rutledge said.More like this story
