Kudzu Art Zone's latest exhibit is a collection of more than 40 works based on each artist's interpretation of the theme - and title of the show - "Creative Beginnings."
The pieces on display are all by members of Kudzu Art Zone and were critiqued by a judge prior to the opening of the show. Pat Herrington's oil painting, "Girl in Thought," took first place, "Window Boxes," a photograph by Neva Spell, took second and Susan Faircloth's set of three watercolor and acrylic paintings of cats took third. All of these pieces and additional work are available for purchase.
"We have a wide variety of artistic expression," said Elsie Porter, director of operations for Kudzu, of "Creative Beginnings." Porter suggested patrons could enjoy the gallery's latest exhibit during the new KAZual Fridays, with music, refreshments and more. Patrons are encouraged to see the exhibit as well as enjoy dinner at one of the downtown Norcross restaurants.
"(Norcross) is abuzz on Fridays," Porter said, adding guests can take advantage of extended hours, as the gallery is now open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fridays. "I would just like people to come and enjoy the artwork. I think it would make a perfect date night."
