LILBURN - Police have identified a man who killed himself Sunday after a 13-hour SWAT standoff as Cody Lee Wilson, 21, of Lilburn.
An autopsy Tuesday confirmed Wilson died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, said Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli. The incident began when officers responded to a domestic dispute at a home on Burnside Lane about 1 p.m. Sunday. A woman reportedly told officers she was physically assaulted by Wilson, her boyfriend, who had locked himself in the basement, armed with a handgun. Officers contacted the man by telephone, but he refused to cooperate. The Gwinnett County Police SWAT team was activated around 2 p.m. Communications with Wilson ceased that evening, police said. SWAT officers entered the house about 2 a.m. Monday and found Wilson's body.More like this story
