2 Blackshear men killed, 1 hurt when SUV overturns
BLACKSHEAR - State troopers said two Blackshear men have been killed and another critically injured when their sport utility vehicle crashed near the Pierce-Ware county line. Trooper 1st Class J.C. Williams of the Georgia State patrol identified the dead as 36-year-old William Clayton Patterson, the driver, and 31-year-old Austin Clay Johnson. Williams said 27-year-old Benny Sweat, also of Blackshear, suffered head and other injuries in the Thursday night crash. The trooper said none of the men were wearing seat belts. 4-year-old girls die in apartment fire COLUMBUS - Two 4-year-old girls believed to be cousins have died in an apartment fire in Columbus. The children were identified as TraNiyah Rogers and Lapora Parkman. Deputy Fire Chief Greg Lang said firefighters were called to the scene shortly after 4 a.m. Friday, finding the apartment in flames. He said the fire was extinguished ""fairly quickly.' Lang said the parents of one of the victims were in the apartment when the fire began, but they escaped without injury. He said the cause of the fire has not been determined.More like this story
