Mrs. Annie Lewis Cotton Clark, age 85, of Buford, GA passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at her home. She was preceded in death by: parents, Harvey, Sr. and Annie Mae Cotton of West Point, GA; husband, Ralph R.J. Clark, Jr. of Buford, GA; and brother, Harvey Cotton, Jr. of West Point, GA. She is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Gayle and Keith Pugh, Buford, GA, Joan and Gary Bagley, Buford, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Gail Clark, Buford, GA; grandchildren, Natalie and Brad Mitchell, Buford, GA, Adam and Autumn Bagley, Alpharetta, GA, and Brittany and Jay Stark, Buford, GA; great grandchildren, Abbey and Wes Mitchell and Gavin Stark; brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Gloria Cotton, Conyers, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Camilla and Curtis Myhand, LaGrange, GA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cotton, West Point, GA; brother-in-law, Roy Clark, Flowery Branch, GA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loving and loved wife, mother, and grandmother. Mrs. Clark was born January 15, 1924 in Troup County, GA. She graduated valedictorian from high school in West Point, GA, graduated from Wesleyan College with a degree in education, and graduated summa cum laude from UGA with a Masters of Education degree. She taught school for five years at Fort Valley High School, then Sylvester High School, and lastly at Flowery Branch High School. She was an active and loved member of First Baptist Church of Buford, where she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher for over fifty-eight years. She was a member and teacher of the Lela Whitener Sunday School Class and the Betty Faith Boatwright WMU. Her ministry to others included nursing home visits, homebound visits, Buford Housing Authority Bible study, cards and phone calls. Her life was a life of service providing endless spiritual wisdom, encouragement and prayer to everyone around her. She was a living testimony of the love of Jesus Christ. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens in Buford, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Buford designated to the Lottie Moon Fund, the Annie Armstrong Fund or the Georgia State Missions Fund in memory of Annie Lewis Cotton Clark.
