WINDER - Nothing works up an appetite like armed robbery.
At least that appears to be the case in a recent Subway restaurant heist in Winder, in which a robber waited to stick up the joint until his fresh-made sandwich was ready, authorities said. The robber hit the restaurant, located at 444 Atlanta Highway N.W., about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, making off with more than $450 in cash, said Barrow County Sheriff's Office Maj. Todd Druse. After a clerk fixed the sandwich to the robber's liking, the suspect produced a silver handgun and demanded cash from a register, Druse said. The employee, who was working alone, complied with all demands, and the suspect fled. No injuries were reported. Police describe the suspect as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a stocking cap. He left the scene in a tan Chevrolet Monte Carlo or Ford Thunderbird, said Druse. Police urge anyone with information about the robbery to call the Barrow County Sheriff's Office at 770-307-3080, ext. 3083.More like this story
