Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hood Almand of Lilburn announce the engagement of their daughter, Katherine Leigh Almand of Lilburn, to Zachary Thomas Smith of Suwanee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Thomas Smith of Canton.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Donald Paul Owens, Mrs. Charles Frederick Almand of Decatur and the late Charles Frederick Almand. She is a 2003 graduate of Parkview High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia. She is pursuing a master's degree in special education from the University of Georgia and is employed by Pharr Elementary.
The future groom is the grandson of Martha Beard Stancil of Canton, Roy Max Stancil of Jasper, Loyce Lathem Smith of Canton and the late Hamrick Watson Smith. He is a 2002 graduate of Cherokee High School and a 2006 graduate of the University of Georgia. He received a master's degree from the University of Georgia in 2007. He teaches at North Gwinnett High School.
The wedding is planned for June 27 at Druid Hills Methodist Church.
