BERKELEY LAKE - The groundbreaking ceremony for Berkeley Lake's new city hall building is scheduled for 11 a.m. today.
Barbara Carroll, chair of the Architectural Design Committee, said Thursday that June 8 is the target date for completion of the new building and city park. Demolition of the old city hall building should begin in about a week and a half, following removal of tiles that contain minimal amounts of asbestos. City council members on Thursday approved an expense of about $3,000 for asbestos testing, tile removal and subsequent air testing for asbestos particles. Qualifying fees, dates set for November election An election will be held in Berkeley Lake on Nov. 3 for council seats held by Walter Anderson, Debra Guthrie and Tom Kitchens, whose terms expire Dec. 31.
