SUWANEE - The Gwinnett County Board of Education on Thursday named new principals for Parkview High and Peachtree Elementary.
David Smith, an assistant principal at Parkview, will take the helm at the Lilburn school as Charles "Buck" Buchanan assumes his duties with the new Archer High. Smith, who previously served as a world history and economics teacher and assistant principal at Brookwood High, has a specialist's degree in educational leadership from the University of Georgia. His appointment is effective immediately. Beverly Smith, principal of Cedar Hill Elementary, will lead Peachtree Elementary next school year. She is replacing Jean Loethen-Payne, who is moving to open White Oak Elementary. Beverly Smith, who has a doctorate in educational leadership from UGA, taught at Peachtree Elementary from 1974 to 1977. She also worked as a teacher at Hopkins Elementary and an assistant principal and data administrator at Cedar Hill Elementary. Her appointment is effective July 1.More like this story
