Youth Roundup: Norcross Fury end season nationally ranked

The Norcross Fury Gold U18 boys soccer team recently completed another excellent season.

The Fury won the Georgia state championship and the Region 3 Premier League to earn a No. 1 state ranking and a No. 12 national ranking.

Team members are: Caulin Collier, Alex Cooks, Eric Fletcher, Saudin Garanovic, Kofi Gyawu, Zack Johnson, Enrique Miranda, Eddie Nam, Michael Recchia, Alex Reyes, Adam Schraudenbach, Matt Starks, Chris Thomas, Bayan Vojdani, Will Whorton and Eric Wierzbinski. The team is coached by Tony Annan.


Mill Creek wins Triple Crown state championship

The Mill Creek Hawks 11U travel baseball team won the 2008 Triple Crown Georgia Fall State Championship in Marietta.

The Hawks defeated the East Cobb Stars by the score of 9-6 to win the championship. The Hawks scored a tournament-leading 44 runs and hit four home runs on their way to capture the crown.

Team members are: Gabe Davenport, Austin Elliott, Jonathan Gettys, Matthew Lewis, Loren Matzick, Justin Reppert, Jacob Weisenberger, Kobe Wharton, Brett Whitford, and Tyler Zak. The team is coached by Rod Davenport, Doug Lewis, John Reppert and Keith Elliott.


Adams, Drew go undefeated

North Gwinnett High School students Tyler Adams and Devon Drew took first place in all of the fencing tournaments they competed in during 2008, a feat no one else in their league accomplished.

Adams competes for the U.S. Fencing Association, where he holds a B ranking.

Drew is the captain of the Bulldogs' girls team and led the team to a second-place finish in the league in 2007. The senior will compete at Yale University next season.
