NORCROSS - A Peeping Tom may be lurking around a local apartment complex.
According to an incident report filed Tuesday with Gwinnett police, a resident of Park Lake Apartments, a gated community on Park Lake Lane, was in her apartment when she noticed a "dark silhouette figure" looking into her living room window. When she pulled the blinds, she said, she noticed a black man standing close to her window, in the bushes.
The man appeared startled, reports said, and began walking "at a fast pace" toward the entrance of the complex.
Just three days earlier, the woman told police, she arrived home to find a similar-looking man emerging from the second floor of her building. She said he stopped for a moment, as if to speak, but she hurried into her apartment.
She described the man as dark-skinned with a close-cropped haircut. He has a receding hairline and no facial hair. She said he is about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 170 pounds with an athletic build.
The woman also told police that her car was recently broken into and that several apartments had been burglarized within the last month.
Police told the woman to make sure her doors and windows were secured and to inform apartment management of the situation.
A manager at the complex declined to comment and referred all questions to JPI Properties, owners of Park Lake Apartments.
At JPI, Jinger Doss said this was the first she has heard of the alleged incidents. She said the complex does employ a courtesy patrol company and that they "do an FYI" for themselves to stay abreast of any trends.
