NORCROSS - The Lionheart Theatre Company, a nonprofit community theater group based in Norcross, signed a lease with the city Thursday for space at the Norcross Cultural Arts and Community Center.
The College Street Playhouse, 10 College St. in Norcross, is now the official home of the theater group, which had occupied the space for two years in an agreement that divided the proceeds from ticket sales between the theater and the city of Norcross. "Everybody was in agreement that this was a win-win situation," Tanya Carroll, producing artistic director for Lionheart, said of the lease. "We're very proud to be the hometown community theater of Norcross." Lionheart, which is in its ninth season, recently won the Georgia Theater Conference's awards for best play for its production "Controlling Interest." Bob Smith was named best actor; Tanya Carroll took home best actress; Daphne Mintz was named best supporting actress; and the award for all-star cast member was given to Zach Hare. In addition to these cast members, "Controlling Interest" featured the talents of Jason Caldwell and James Beck. Lionheart will represent state of Georgia at Southeastern Theatre Conference in Birmingham, Ala., in March.More like this story
