Venting doesn't always need to be done in paper

I'm all for freedom of speech and the opportunity to express our opinions in print. After all, freedom of speech is a Constitutional right just, like choosing our garbage pick-up should be.

I realize everyone doesn't agree with my opinions, yet most tolerate them. I try to extend them the same courtesy. If I disagree, I just voice my frustrations privately to my wife. It bugs her but makes me feel better.

Words are harmless until someone crosses the line with personal attacks. Therefore, I try to limit mine toward public figures and base it on their actions, not their opinions. Folks can think whatever they want.

My philosophy is if you disagree with an individual's opinion, it's best to whine to your wife and not the paper. At least she has the option to elbow you in the ribs and tell you to shut up.
