Learning center to present exams workshop
DULUTH - A free community exam prep workshop designed to guide local students and their parents through the college entrance exam process will be presented by Huntington Learning Center of Duluth, which encourages all college-bound high school students and their parents to attend.
"Many of the parents today are not fully aware of the changes that have taken place over time regarding the SAT and ACT exams and how test scores are valued by competitive colleges and universities," said Molly Hall, who will lead the workshop. "This workshop will cover a wide range of topics related to college entrance exams including strategies that students can use to improve their test scores, as well as what to anticipate throughout the entire college application process."
The workshop is open to the public and will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the center, which is located beside Gwinnett Place Mall at 3360 Satellite Blvd.

Toys for Tots event gives gifts to children
NORCROSS - More than 400 toys were handed out in two hours at Norcross Human Services Center's annual Toys for Tots event Dec. 20.
All of the gifts that were donated for the event this year came from the Marines' Toys for Tots program and Adam and Sarah Nerenbaum, a mother-son volunteer team.
Norcross Human Services Center has been hosting the holiday event for the past five years. About 80 percent of all the kids who receive gifts are referred by the Head Start Pre-K program, a national pre-kindergarten program for lower-income children.
Norcross Human Services Center is one of four buildings the Gwinnett County Health and Human Services operates. For more information about events and services provided by GCHHS, call 770-822-8842 or visit www.gwinnettcounty.com.
