Police look for man in robbery

SUWANEE - Police are looking for a man they are calling a "person of interest" in the recent robbery of a BP gas station on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road.

The man entered the store with an assault rifle and ordered the clerk to open the register. After walking with the suspect to a second register, the clerk began fighting back. He and the suspect wrestled for control of the rifle before the suspect pushed the clerk to the ground and ran out of the store, according to reports.

The clerk told police the man pulled the trigger but the rifle misfired.

The robber is described as a white man in his early 20s. He was wearing what appeared to be a leather UGA jacket and had his face covered with a bandanna.

Police believe it might be the same man who was captured on surveillance cameras a couple of hours before at a gas station across the street.

Capt. Clyde Byers of the Suwanee Police Department said the man may have driven off in a gold or brown Cadillac and that the rear brakelight may have been hanging off.

Anyone with information is asked to call Suwanee police at 770-945-8995.
