Gwinnett Daily Post
Improv's the word this weekend as two Gwinnett venues host improvisation groups.
The Aurora Theatre will welcome back its signature Funny Fridays act, the African-American improv comedy troupe The Blacktop Circus, with shows at 7:30 and 10 tonight. Each show will feature a group effort at improvisation using audience suggestions to turn them into scenes, songs, and sketches, followed by individual troop members performing stand-up routines. Atlanta-based improv performance group Playing in Traffic will show off its talents, with the help of audience participation, at 8 p.m. today at the Red Clay Theatre. What started as a small class at the Professional Actors Studio in Atlanta in 2005 has blossomed into a group of 10 or so performers that became a full-fledged improv troupe in 2006. Playing in Traffic performs multiple shows a month at various metro Atlanta venues. For more information on these performances, visit www.auroratheatre.com and www.redclaytheatrearts.com.
