James Gregory Mitchell, age 56 of Auburn died Thursday, January 1, 2009. Greg was born in Duluth on August 1, 1952 but was a member of the Fence Community in Auburn his entire life. He was a machinist for Triple D Tool & Dye for several years and spent his final years before his illness in the farming business, raising chickens on his daddy's farm. He enjoyed softball, being a member of a racing team, playing the guitar and operating farm equipment. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bethlehem, Georgia. Greg Mitchell was preceded in death by his father, Rev. J. C. Mitchell of Auburn and is survived by his mother, Rosa Bailey Mitchell of Auburn, his two sisters, Joan Mitchell Patton, her husband, Bruce Patton of Lawrenceville and their children, Amanda, Nicole and her husband Derek and Judy Mitchell Ride, her husband, Jeff Ride of Loganville and children, Allison, Brian and Taylor, and granddaughter, Kloey. He is also survived by two loving daughters, Ms. Kim Mitchell Sudduth of Gainesville along with her four sons, Kyle, Levi, Jamie and Logan and Mrs. Beth Mitchell Gross, her husband, Clint Gross and her three children, Morgan, Trey and Tucker. He was loved and adored as “Big Daddy” by all of his grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Friday, January 2, 2009 from 6-9 PM and Saturday, January 3, 2009 from 3-9 PM. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Union Grove Baptist Church, Auburn with Rev. Chris Gaddis, Rev. Dwight Barnes and Rev. Larry Wynn officiating. Remains will be placed in state at 2:00 PM. Burial Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Auburn.
