Prep roundup: Wheeler paces Panthers in win

LILBURN - Austin Wheeler hit a grand slam and had five RBIs to help Parkview hammer McEachern 13-2 in five innings on Thursday.

Brandon Jacobs was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs, while Brandon Kregal had four RBIs and was 2-for-3. Kenny Miller had two hits and Kenny Bellavance scored two runs and had a triple for the Panthers (1-0).

Zack Olson got the win after striking out three and giving up one run for Parkview.

BASEBALL

Shiloh 6, MLK 4

ATLANTA - Matthew Vollenweider struck out two batters in four innings and gave up a hit to register a win and help Shiloh beat MLK 6-4 on Thursday.

Carlos Chavarri pitched a third of an inning and picked up the save for the Generals, while Vollenweider was 1-for-2 with two RBIs at the plate for Shiloh (1-0).

Holy Innocents' 7, GAC 3

NORCROSS - Though tied 3-3 in the seventh, the Spartans couldn't hold on and fell 7-3 against Holy Innocents' on Thursday.

Patrick Savage went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Andrew Steckenrider also scored a double and an RBI, while Ian Graham added a double for Greater Atlanta Christian (1-1).

Berkmar 8, Monroe Area 7

MONROE - Cody Jett had a single, double and three RBIs as Berkmar took a 8-7 win over Monroe Area on Thursday.

Mark Miller scored two singles, Xaviir Briggs had two doubles and an RBI, and Jarrett Rivera had two RBIs for Berkmar (1-1).

Mori Cortorreal (1-1) got the win in relief, after pitching 41/3 innings, striking out three batters and giving up a run.

Loganville 6, Dacula 1

LOGANVILLE - Dacula fell 6-1 against Loganville on Thursday.

Chris Owens scored Dacula's only run, and Jeremy Kien was 1-for-3. Tyler Jarvis was 1-for-2 and Austin Meyer went 1-for-1 for Dacula (1-1). Erik Schrum got the loss after he pitched three innings and gave up three runs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Collins Hill 5, Peachtree Ridge 0

LAWRENCEVILLE - The Eagles defeated Peachtree Ridge 5-0 on Thursday.

Emily Orist won No. 1 singles, Erin Ensley won No. 2 singles and Jillian Este won her singles match. In doubles, Abby Owensby and Kelly Sullivan took care of the No. 1 match, while the No. 2 pair of Maddie Owensby and Jessica Pham also picked up a point for the Eagles (3-3).

Parkview 5, Shiloh 0

LILBURN - Parkview shut out Shiloh 5-0 on Thursday and improved its record to 3-2 for the year.

Jordan DeArmon, Alex Vagasi and Taylor Ballard each won their singles matches. Rebecca Streich and Anna Fluevog won at No. 1 doubles, while Amanda Bantug and Megan Nelms won at No. 2 doubles.

Athens Academy 3, GAC 2

NORCROSS - Greater Atlanta Christian got beat 3-2 by Athens Academy on Thursday.

Winning doubles matches for GAC (0-1) were Rebecca Gray and Elizabeth McMurray, and Charlotte Greenwood with Margaret Sharpe.

Grayson 4, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS - Alexis Lee and Sharon Kim each won at singles as the Rams took a 4-1 victory against Meadowcreek on Thursday.

Holly Craig and Caitlin Smith won at No. 1 doubles and Sydnie Madison and Kristie Cheesman won No. 2 doubles for Grayson (5-0).

Dacula 5, Central 0

LAWRENCEVILLE - Mariel Herrera, Mary Moore and Maggie Bevil won their singles matches to help Dacula beat Central Gwinnett 5-0 on Thursday.

Holly Knight and Stephanie Weeden won No. 1 doubles, while Abby Crowe and Paige Carver won No. 2 doubles for Dacula (6-0).

Mill Creek 5, Westminster 1

ATLANTA -After playing five singles and five doubles matches, Mill Creek beat Westminster 5-1 on Thursday.

Kristy Yau, Nela Handac, Stacy Mottesheard and Mallory Kolts each won for Mill Creek in singles matches. At doubles, Mottesheard and Yau combined to win a point, while Carson Jackson with Kolts won at No. 4 doubles. Leah Arenas and Taylor Dodge also won their doubles match for Mill Creek (5-1).

Blessed Trinity 5, Buford 0

BUFORD - Buford (5-2) fell to Blessed Trinity 5-0 on Thursday night.

Hebron 4, Tallulah Falls 1

DACULA - Hebron beat Tallulah Falls 4-1 on Thursday.

In singles, Sarah Hedrick took care of No. 1 match and Anneliese Vorpahl added a point at No. 3 singles. Jorie Weirather and Mini Schulte won at No. 1 doubles, while Allie Klaubert and Michelle Kriffen also won their doubles match for Hebron (2-1).

Wesleyan 3, Pace 2

ATLANTA - No. 2 singles player Chelsea Michael picked up a point for Wesleyan and the Wolves topped Pace 3-2 on Thursday.

Caroline Payne and Megan Kelly earned a win at No. 1 doubles, while Julie Rodriguez and Catherine Sutcliff also won at doubles for Wesleyan (1-2).

Parkview 5, Shiloh 0

LILBURN - The Panthers took a 5-0 victory over Shiloh on Thursday.

Lance Mengel, Taylor Cheek and Patrick Massey won at singles matches for Parkview. Brandon Patrick and Christopher Jones won No. 1 doubles, while Tim Levengood and Sunny Tran won their No. 2 doubles match.

Brookwood 5, Berkmar 0

STONE MOUNTAIN - Brookwood shut out Berkmar 5-0 on Thursday afternoon to remain undefeated 6-0 for the season.

Randy Phillips, Mark Guentert and Zach Jones each won their singles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Chris Eastwood and Will Smith won, while Jordan Wright and Jon Lamparter won No. 2 doubles for the Broncos.

Grayson 5, Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS - Stephen Reagin, Scott Eldridge and Kevin Harris each won their singles matches to help Grayson blank Meadowcreek 5-0 on Thursday.

Mike Burns and Tommy Lee won at No. 1 doubles, while John Everest and Ryan Muhlbauer added a point after winning No. 2 doubles for Grayson (5-0).

NORCROSS - Though Will Lewis picked up a point at No. 1 singles and Blake Guy and David Floyd won their doubles match, GAC (0-1) fell to Athens Academy 3-2 on Thursday.

LAWRENCEVILLE - Dacula beat Central Gwinnett 4-1 on Thursday.

Kevin Ramberg won No. 1 singles, Brandon Tucker won No. 2 singles and Chris Ragan added a point at No. 3 singles for Dacula. In No. 2 doubles, Robby Hendley and Clayton Sharp won for the Falcons (5-1).

Hebron 4, Tallulah Falls 1

DACULA - Stephen Burslem and Evan Haas each won at singles as Hebron took a 4-1 win over Tallulah Falls on Thursday.

In doubles, Brandon Sinke and Jack Griffin won at No. 1, while the pair No. 2 Kyle Donatucci and Robert Hunt picked up a point for Hebron (1-1).

NORCROSS - Wesleyan fell to Pace 3-2 on Thursday.

BUFORD - Shea Kelly scored the Wolves' (4-2) only goal, as Greater Atlanta Christian took a 4-1 win over Buford on Thursday.

North tops Peachtree Ridge

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett beat Peachtree Ridge 94-96 at Bear's Best on Thursday.

Ellyn Kievet led North with a round of 41. Peachtree Ridge's sisters Maria Carter and Ana Carter each shot a 48.

BOYS LACROSSE

Holy Innocents' 9, GAC 2

NORCROSS - Shawn Kane had 12 saves and Jeffrey Johnson scored two goals for GAC, but it wasn't enough as the Spartans (2-2) fell to Holy Innocents 9-2 on Thursday.
