Escaped inmate found in Ringgold

LAWRENCEVILLE - Both of the inmates who escaped Thursday from a supervised work detail at the Gwinnett Recycling Bank have been captured, officials said.

Robert Summey, 29, was arrested Sunday by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force near Ringgold, his last known address, Gwinnett County Correctional Institution Deputy Warden Jeff Sligar said Tuesday.

"(The Task Force) received a tip that he was going to be at a particular location ... and they were waiting for him," Sligar said.

Summey is being held at the Catoosa County Jail, Sligar said.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff's Department's Fugitive Unit arrested the other inmate, 28-year-old Mark Flenniken, about 6 p.m. Friday at an acquaintance's home in Buford.

Flenniken is being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center, Sligar said.

Three officers were supervising the 41-inmate work crew last week, Sligar said. Flenniken and Summey were classified as minimum-security inmates. Flenniken was serving an 18-month sentence for probation violation and could have been released as early as July. Summey was serving a two-year sentence for forgery and was scheduled to be released in 2010.

Both now face charges of felony escape and could receive up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
