New Suwanee City Hall opens Monday

SUWANEE - City leaders are moving this weekend to prepare for the opening of Suwanee's new City Hall Monday.

The green building located at Town Center Park will be open for business at 6:30 a.m.

"It may not quite be 'business as usual' Monday morning," City Manager Marty Allen said. But he said residents are welcome to come in, either to conduct business or simply explore the edifice, which has a marble exterior, picture windows and expansive City Council chambers.

The new 12,000-square-foot facility, which cost $7.2 million to construct, not only provides more space for the 33 city staff, but it will allow officials to expand the old Buford Highway location for the police department.

Located at 330 Town Center Avenue, City Hall overlooks the city amphitheater and fountain, providing an anchor to the park.

A ribbon-cutting will be held March 28.
