Notre Dame Academy raises $4,400 for charity

DULUTH - Notre Dame Academy students raised $4,459 during Catholic Schools Week, with $3,459 given to the Holy Childhood Association, which helps poor children throughout the world, and $1,000 given to the Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation in memory of former Early Years Campus principal Megan Ryan.

A large part of the money was raised through a friendly weeklong competition called Penny Wars, held every day during Catholic Schools Week. In Penny Wars, students brought in spare change donations every morning and competed against each other to see which class could raise the most money.

Notre Dame Academy is an independent, Marist-sponsored Catholic School serving preschoolers to eighth-graders.
