One-stop shopping at Home and Garden Show
Show continues today, Sunday

DULUTH - David Elder and Tim Szymanski were checking out what their competition had to offer at the Georgia Home and Garden Show on Friday.

The two men are with Barselton-based Georgia Landscape Group.

"We work in the residential design/build landscape industry, so we came out to see what the competition was up to," Elder said.

Residential landscape design exhibitors were only one of many types of home and garden-related businesses represented at the 12th annual show, which opened at noon Friday and continues today and Sunday at the Gwinnett Center. Various remodeling businesses were on hand, offering kitchen and bathroom redesign to carpeting and flooring updates. Various exhibitors offered a look at tools for the kitchen, while others provided an introduction to gourmet food and gifts.

Two of the more unique exhibitors included Aquarium Center, which designs, installs and maintains office and home aquariums, and Blissful Image Teeth Whitening, offering on-site whitening. Hill Thompson of Thompson Home Inspection of Eatonton, who is representing Forever Lawn at the show, said he was pleased with the results he saw after spending 15 minutes under the cold UV lights.

"I just wanted to try out the whitening and see if it worked, and it did," he said. "Fifteen minutes and that was it."

Elder and Szymanski with Georgia Landscape Group agreed with each other that attendance Friday was more than they had expected, and the show's director, Brendan Brogan, said attendance was up from last year.

"My exhibitors tell me they got some real good leads and some good business out of it so far," Brogan said, adding the busiest days are yet to come.

"I think (today) is going to be really good," Elder said.

Szymanski added, "It's something that I would like to do next year for our company."

The 12th annual Georgia Home and Garden Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
