"Norcross is for lovers," according to the city that invites couples to spend Valentine's Day in its downtown.

Married couples can renew their vows in a ceremony set in the historic downtown area and then enjoy a carriage ride and the music of a barbershop quartet.

All the single ladies ... and men 18 and older are invited to spend Valentine's Day at the Heartbeat Bash at Wild Bill's dance club and concert hall.

Upon entering, each man will receive 10 hearts and the ladies are invited to "steal them" throughout the night. The woman with the most hearts at 2 a.m. will receive a 1 carat diamond pendant set in 14K white gold valued at $1,600 along with $500 cash.

The night's festivities will begin at 6 p.m. with hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing and the show at 8. Admission is $10 at the door. Reservations are required but can be made up to the day of the event.

Kids and the young at heart can celebrate Valentine's Day with the Big Apple Circus this year.

Gwinnett Place Mall will host the Simon Kidgits Valentine's Party - "Be a Clown" with the Big Apple Circus from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the mall's Belk wing.

Kids can learn the art of applying clown makeup while enjoying sweet Valentine's Day Treats. Fans of karaoke can compete to win a "High School Musical 3" DVD.

The Lionheart Theatre Company invites audiences to step into the story of two middle-aged men - Leon and Bill - who create a list of attributes to define the perfect woman for Bill. When she appears on his doorstep, her perfection is fleeting, giving way for a comical look at the way men view women.

Show time is 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the College Street Playhouse, 10 College St. in Norcross. Admission is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. The play is recommended for mature audiences only.

Best bet for music lovers

The Metro Jazz Club, a 17-piece jazz band, will set the mood for romance at the Aurora Theatre on Saturday night in the theater's fourth annual Valentine's Day Cabaret.

The show will start at 8:30 p.m. and admission is $20. A dinner and show package for two is available for $100. Participating restaurants include Dominick's and McCray's Tavern in Lawrenceville, Park Café in Duluth and Grayson House and Bella Vita Italian Bistro in Buford. Fresh flowers from Huff's Flowers can be ordered for $30 or a box of eight chocolate-dipped strawberries from Peterbrook Chocolatier for $15.
