Outlook: The Broncos hope to challenge rival Parkview for the 8-AAAAA title with a deep roster, but one that will feature a good number of new starters. The senior class has talent, but the junior class is just as good with Miller (an Auburn commitment) and Gray, one of the county's fastest players.

Returning starters: MF Taiwo Adeshigbin, Sr.; DEF Arielle Sabina, Sr.; MF Laura Milardo, Sr.; GK Jessica Bailey, Sr.; DEF Jessica Engheben, Sr.; GK Yustin Nambo, Sr.; MF Lindsey NeSmith, Sr.; FW Chika Ibiam, Jr.; FW Erin Lee, Jr.; DEF Allison Fernandez, Soph.; FW Cinthia Nambo, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: FW Olivia Sabina, Fr.; DEF Salina Orzikowski, Fr.; FW Ingrid Guevara, Soph.

Outlook: Forbes is excited about returning seven senior starters from a team that finished fourth in tough 8-AAAAA. Adeshigbin is a speedy midfielder, while a senior-laden defense led by Sabina also is steady.

Team: Dacula

Head coach: Tracy Valentino

2008 record: 14-4, first round of Class AAAA playoffs

Returning starters: FW Bryna Lamb, Jr.

Other key players/newcomers: GK Megan Iwan, Sr.; Amanda Kent, Fr.; Ruva Chimedza, Fr.

Outlook: Lamb will carry a huge role as the Falcons' only returning starter from a very good AAAA team that moves up into tough 8-AAAAA this season. Iwan will be an impact player after spending the 2008 season on the junior varsity due to a permissive transfer. Kent and Chimedza give Dacula much-needed height.

Team: Grayson

Head coach: Terry Klinect

2008 record: 14-5, second round of Class AAAAA playoffs

Returning starters: FW Nikki Stamaris, Sr.; DEF Alexa Balsamides, Sr.; MF Samantha Lange, Sr.; MF Brooke VanBaush, Jr.; DEF Hannah Norwood, Jr.; FW Kelly Craft, Jr.; DEF Hadrian Plott, Soph.; DEF Erin Griffin, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: DEF Kara Seabrook, Jr.; MF Rebecca Allen, Jr.; MF Shayna Rogers, Soph.; GK Molly Williams, Soph.; GK Katie McGowan, Sr.

Outlook: Stamaris (Troy signee), Balsamides and Lange are key veteran leaders who know about winning - the Rams shared the Class AAAAA state title with Parkview when they were sophomores. They are among eight returning starters from a team that lost to Kennesaw Mountain on PKs in the state playoffs. Klinect is in his first season as head coach.

Team: Parkview

Head coach: Judson Hamby

2008 record: 22-0, Class AAAAA state champions

Returning starters: FW Kristina Pascutti, Sr.; FW Megan Geiger, Sr.; MF Morgan Mitchell, Sr.; FW Kim Spence, Jr.; MF Maureen Buff, Jr.; FW Taylor Jackson, Sr.; DEF Kansas Bayly, Jr.; MF Elena Karakizis, Jr.; DEF Cherrelle Jarrett, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers:

Outlook: Although star goalkeeper Ashley Baker (now at Georgia) is gone, the Panthers have nine returning starters back from a team that posted the girls program's first undefeated season. Spence and Pascutti combined for 36 goals last season, while Geiger, when she joins the team after basketball season, is another offensive force. Buff is a talented junior midfielder and Jarrett and Bayly lead a typically strong Parkview defense.

Team: Shiloh

Head coach: Tiiu Maavere

2008 record: 5-10

Returning starters: MF Samantha Yarc, Sr.; FW Mariana Milan, Sr.; FW Sadarhi Williams, Jr.; MF Alex Ayers, Jr.; MF Sherry Mujkanovic, Jr.

Other key players/newcomers: DEF Kelsey Griswold, Fr.; DEF Lindsey McCullough, Fr.

2008 record: 3-10-2

Returning starters: GK Allison Schneider, Sr.; MF Emily Knain, Sr.; DEF Tess Buis, Jr.; DEF Kayla Primus, Jr.; DEF Meagen Varney, Jr.

Other key players/newcomers: DEF Ashlee Landry; MF Kalynn Stover; FW Danielle Blount; GK/MF Mallory Sayre; DEF Hollyann Philpott

Outlook: South has been hit hard by injuries in the preseason, including a season-ending knee injury to team captain Amanda Podgurski. The Comets, with only three seniors, will rely heavily on youth with 11 freshmen and sophomores in the varsity rotation.

Team: Collins Hill

Head coach: Jeff Tinklepaugh

2008 record: 12-6, first round of Class AAAAA playoffs

Returning starters: DEF Melissa Fishbein, Sr.; MF Taylor Herring, Sr.; MF Kylie Donohue, Jr.; GK Sage DoVale, Jr.; FW Lindsay Leonardo, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: DEF Kelli Leary, Sr.; FW Jaycelyn Mitchell, Sr.; MF Daesha Brown, Sr.; MF Jessica Gillespie, Sr.; MF Rebecca Peacock, Sr.; FW Sarah Rice, Sr.; DEF Lizzie Lohmar, Jr.; DEF Leah Beasley, Soph.

Outlook: Graduation took all but five starters from last season's Class AAAAA playoff team that finished 10th in the final state rankings. But the returning starters are talented and Tinklepaugh is expecting big things from his eight seniors, a group that includes Gardner-Webb signee Fishbein in the defense.

Team: Duluth

2008 record: 5-10

Returning starters: DEF Andrea Morris, Sr.; DEF Colette Leima, Soph.; DEF Christina Howard, Jr.; GK Brooke Clement, Soph.; MF Laura Diaz, Jr.; MF Brehisy Zuniga, Jr.; MF Erin Falk, Soph.; MF Tylyn Avila, Soph.; FW Jessi Viller, Soph.; FW Gwen Davis, Sr.

Other key players/newcomers: FW/MF Tamaya Tompoe, Fr.

Outlook: A season ago, Duluth featured a young team and that should pay off this season. Only one starter graduated, leaving Hayes with a team of experienced players.

Team: Mill Creek

2008 record: 6-10-1

Returning starters: FW Torie Scalera, Soph.; MF Colleen Foy, Sr.; DEF Allyson Canganelli, Sr.; DEF Jaci Carithers, Sr.; MF Jenny Margert, Sr.; MF Tatum O'Keefe, Soph.; DEF Amanda Canganelli, Sr.

Outlook: The Hawks are shooting for their first state playoff berth with a team that features four college signees - Margert (Columbus State), Carithers (Columbus State) and the Canganellis (Georgia Southwestern). The team will build around a tough, veteran defense.

Team: Norcross

Head coach: Judas Kinchen

2008 record: 11-6-1, first round of Class AAAAA playoffs

Returning starters: MF Anna Cusick, Sr.; MF Jami Lupuloff, Jr.; MF Marissa Verbeten, Jr.; DEF Jamie Gilson, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: MF Shannon Geraghty, Jr.

Outlook: This year's lineup will be completely rebuilt with only four returning starters back from a state playoff team. Cusick (Tennessee-Chattanooga signee) is the only returning senior starter, but Lupuloff and Verbeten are important juniors.

Team: North Gwinnett

Head coach: Mark Karen

2008 record: 14-5, second round of Class AAAAA playoffs

Returning starters: FW Danielle Au, Jr.; FW Kelly Penston, Sr.; MF Halie Watts, Jr.; DEF Kaitlin Baker, Sr.; DEF Jessica Sapp, Sr.; DEF Casie Marshall, Soph.; DEF Abigail Groth, Soph.; GK Rebecca Ingram, Sr.; MF Abbi Edwards, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: MF Jessica Eberhardt, Fr.; MF Lauren Harriman, Fr.; DEF Mackenzie Loula, Fr.; MF Jena Jaragoski, Jr.

Outlook: The Bulldogs were very young last season, but still gave unbeaten Class AAAAA champion Parkview its biggest scare before falling 1-0 in the state playoffs. Au, a South Carolina commitment, was the Daily Post's 2008 player of the year after a 39-goal, 13-assist season. She pairs with another strong offensive player in Penston, while Ingram and Sapp lead a stingy defense.

Team: Peachtree Ridge

Head coach: Bill Holleman

2008 record: 11-7

Returning starters: FW Christine Watts, Sr.; DEF Sammi Badgio, Jr.; DEF Jessie Baumgart, Sr.; DEF Baillie Burmaster, Soph.; FW Michelle Campbell, Sr.; MF Carolyn DiNapoli, Jr.; GK McCall Gardner, Soph.; MF Emily Kwon, Jr.; DEF Melissa Lay, Soph.; GK Katie Lyle, Soph.; DEF Katherine Metz, Sr.; MF Courtney Powell, Sr.; DEF Ashton Sellers, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: FW Alexis Scott, Jr.; MF Jill Rivers, Jr.; DEF Katey Lippit, Fr.; MF Alana Dineen, Fr.; MF/FW Julianna Luther, Fr.

Outlook: A game-changer like South Carolina signee Watts (45 goals the last two seasons) alone makes the Lions dangerous, but she should be aided by the move-in of Scott, a Cincinnati commitment. They are joined by 12 other players with starting experience, including key defenders Badgio and Baumgart.

Team: Buford

Head coach: Drew Eager

2008 record: 16-4-1, Class AA/A semifinals

Returning starters: FW Haley Holderfield, Sr.; MF Jacey Chandler, Jr.; MF Katie Garth, Soph.; MF/FW Liz Darden, Soph.; MF/DEF Jaime Clay, Jr.; GK Rachel Kaplan, Jr.; MF/DEF Lindsay Baxter, Sr.

Other key players/newcomers: DEF Natalya Jones, Soph.; DEF Liz Watkins, Fr.; DEF Kiley Jarck, Sr.; FW Moriah Mills, Jr.; MF/FW Lindsey White, Fr.

Outlook: Graduation losses took a large toll on the Wolves, who have been one of AA/A's best in recent seasons. But a good nucleus returns led by Holderfield, a Georgia State signee. Eager is in his first season as head coach.

Team: GAC

Head coach: Troy Bendickson

2008 record: 8-6

Returning starters: FW Samantha Abrahart, Sr.; FW Chelsea Cromer, Soph.; MF Madeline Barker, Jr.; FW Kelsey Pelletier, Soph.; DEF Anna Douglas, Soph.; DEF Morgan Hall, Sr.; DEF Elise Martin, Jr.; FW/MF Haley Carroll, Jr.; DEF Anna Arnau, Soph.; MF Quincy Meyer, Sr.; GK McKenzie Nelson, Soph.; MF Lauren Bryan, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: MF/DEF Kailey Bryan, Fr.

Outlook: The Spartans finished third in a brutally tough region that feature powerhouses Buford and Providence, but are loaded with experienced players this season. The group includes four consistent goal scorers in Abrahart, Cromer, Barker and Pelletier, who combined for 50 goals and 30 assists last season. Abrahart has signed with South Carolina and Barker is a Georgia commitment.

Team: Providence

Head coach: Jonny Williamson

2008 record: 11-8, Class AA/A semifinals

Returning starters: FW Leah Williamson, Sr.; MF Julie Jordan, Sr.; MF Maggie Brown, Sr.; MF Lauren Petmecky, Sr.; GK Taylor Sorrells, Sr.; DEF Liz Learst, Sr.; MF/FW Emily Bougas, Jr.; FW Tori Lopez, Jr.; DEF Kenzie Gray, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: MF Brooke Kelly, Fr.; DEF Lauren Hoyt, Fr.; DEF/GK Kaitlyn Milks, Jr.; MF Allie Mikle, Soph.

Outlook: The core of this team is a group of seniors that expects success - the Stars won the state title two years ago and made the Final Four last season. While that senior group has talent, two of Providence's most creative offensive players are juniors, Bougas (16 goals) and Lopez.

Team: Wesleyan

Head coach: Lacy Gilbert

2008 record: 10-8

Returning starters: DEF Rachael Duane, Sr.; FW/MF Paige Pickert, Sr.; MF Caylie Love, Sr.; DEF JoJo Prescott, Jr.; FW McKenzie Stanford, Soph.

Other key players/newcomers: MF Jane Strader, Sr.; MF Kiersten White, Sr.; GK Hannah Duane, Fr.; FW/MF Meagan Hall, Fr.; DEF Abby Daws, Fr.

Outlook: The Wolves are led by the most creative player in the program's history in Pickert, who holds the school assist record (49) to go with 53 career goals. The Furman signee is joined by a solid core of veteran players and a promising group of impact freshmen.
