ATLANTA - The FBI is assisting the federal investigation into the salmonella outbreak that has sickened hundreds and may have caused as many as eight deaths.
Special Agent Gregory Jones said the FBI is 'fully involved' in helping the Food and Drug Administration's inquiry into the Peanut Corp. of America's Blakely plant. WALB-TV in Albany reported on Monday that search warrants have been issued for the FBI to search the plant. Federal officials said the company knowingly shipped salmonella-laced products from the Georgia plant even after tests confirmed the contamination.More like this story
