Open since: 2004
Location: Red Sky Cafe is just off Buford Highway in Buford. "It's a good location," co-owner Jason Languasco said. "Buford is a small-town community. I think (the locals have) embraced us as well as we've embraced them."
Hours: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays
Owners: Brothers Jason and Bryan Languasco took over Red Sky Cafe five months ago, purchasing the original owner's recipes while making additions of their own. Both have backgrounds in food services, particularly in cafe offerings like coffee.
"My brother and I always had aspirations of owning our own restaurant," Bryan Languasco said.
Atmosphere: Red Sky has a cafe-like atmosphere with the addition of booth seating to the typical table setting. The dining area is divided into two rooms with the left featuring a mural that runs the width of one, long wall. The quote "I've seen it raining fire from the sky," sang by John Denver in "Rocky Mountain High" is painted underneath hot air balloons floating through a blue sky that darkens to one side into pink and purple clouds.
Red Sky Cafe also boasts a drive-through for patrons on the go.
Menu: The Languasco brothers began offering breakfast in September, with a menu of omelets, biscuits, breakfast sandwiches and pastries. The Red Sky Breakfast is a popular order, offering two eggs, a choice of bacon, sausage or ham, hash browns or grits, and toast. The Santa Fe Wrap is another popular breakfast selection, with two eggs wrapped in a sun-dried tomato wrap with bell peppers, onions and cheddar cheese accompanied by a secret ranchero sauce.
Lunch options include salads, soups, sandwiches, fried items and selections off the grill. Cathy's chicken salad sandwich is ordered often, along with Lynn's roasted pimento cheese sandwich, made with toasted pecans and a hint of jalapenos and served with a side of strawberry preserves.
"We've got a good menu mix," Jason Languasco said. "We always want to have a variety."
A dinner menu is planned, along with extended hours, with options to include a filet steak, Hawaiian pineapple marinated chicken, pot roast, country fried steak and seafood and pasta options.
Things you might not know: Owners Jason and Bryan Languasco both have sets of twins. Bryan has 15-year-old identical twin boys, while Jason is father to 16-year-olds, a boy and a girl.
