LAWRENCEVILLE - This week Wings Air made its inaugural passenger flights from Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville to Atlanta's Hartfield-Jackson International Airport.
The commuter airline based out of the Gwinnett airport ferried its first customer to the Atlanta airport at 2:15 Tuesday afternoon, followed by a second at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. The company began the service Sunday.
Flights are $79 each way, plus taxes and fees.
"When you compare our price to the cost of driving and parking, not to mention the lost time and stress, we think this is a real bargain," said Charlie Mintz, president of Wings Air.
Passengers traveling from the Lawrenceville airport to Atlanta will ride in a Piper Navajo Chieftain aircraft that seats up to eight. Two flights into Atlanta and two flights out are available daily.
Wings Air flights out of Lawrenceville will accept carry-on baggage only until baggage agreements with major airlines are completed.
