FLOWERY BRANCH - The Balus Creek Boat Ramp, located off Mountain View Road, is now open for public use.
The boat ramp was extended using a cofferdam method, which will allow the ramp to remain well below Lake Lanier's current water level, according to a news release. Lake Lanier's pool level on Wednesday was 1,056.57 feet, more than 14 feet below full. The ramp was built through a collaboration between Hall County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Hall County Engineering Division performed the surveying and design work, and Simpson Trucking and Grading handled construction of the ramp, through a contract with the county. The Hall County Road Maintenance Division repaired the parking lot.More like this story
