Perdue appoints 3 to bench

ATLANTA -- Georgia will soon have three new judges.

Gov. Sonny Perdue appointed the three attorneys to the bench on Tuesday. The trio each have extensive backgrounds as prosecutors.

Stephen D. Kelley was appointed to the Brunswick Superior Court. Kelley has been the Brunswick district attorney since 1997.

Shawn LaGrua was named to the Superior Court of the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. She was previously the inspector-general for the Georgia Secretary of State's Office and was the DeKalb County solicitor general from July 2004 to January 2007.

Ken Wynne will serve on the Alcovy Superior Court. He has been the northeast Georgia circuit's top prosecutor since 2001.

The three judgeships were created this year by the state legislature.
