LAWRENCEVILLE -- A Lawrenceville woman accused in the hit-and-run bus crash that shut down Interstate 85 and injured 14 was denied bond Thursday.
Joy Christine Wilson, 32, is charged with driving under the influence and felony hit and run in Wednesday's accident, where a bus carrying special needs adults to an art class overturned.
Judge Richard Alexander said a lawyer was appointed for the unemployed woman during a Christmas eve first appearance hearing. A preliminary hearing was set for the first week in January, meaning Wilson will likely spend the holidays at the Gwinnett County Jail.
According to police, seven of the bus occupants were in good condition at Gwinnett Medical Center, as of press time Thursday. One remained in critical condition and one was in serious condition.
Another victim who was transported to North Fulton Regional Hospital, and was in stable condition Thursday, police said.
