DACULA -- A problem with a heating, ventilating and air conditioning unit sent a light haze of smoke through two classrooms Friday afternoon at J.G. Dyer Elementary School, a spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department said.
Firefighters responded to the facility at 1707 Hurricane Shoals Road shortly after 12:20 p.m. Friday after school officials called 911.
The students in the affected classrooms were moved to another area in the school while firefighters investigated the cause of the smoky haze, Gwinnett Fire Department Capt. Thomas Rutledge said.
There was no active fire, Rutledge said. The school building was not damaged, and no injuries were reported.
After firefighters left, students were allowed to return to the affected classrooms, Rutledge said.
