LAWRENCEVILLE -- Police are asking for the public's help in finding a mentally disabled man who disappeared from the University Parkway and Buford Drive area more than a week ago.
According to reports, 21-year-old Anthony Lamar Harris II, of Snellville, was last seen on the evening of Dec. 8. Gwinnett police spokesman Officer Brian Kelly said Harris was on foot and did not have access to a car.
Harris' family told police he requires regular medication for his illness.
They contacted police, Kelly said, after searching areas Harris is known to frequent and not finding him. Harris reportedly has a history of leaving home and traveling toward Atlanta and riding the MARTA system, with which he is familiar, but his family fears he may become easily disoriented.
Harris, who answers to the nickname, "Ant," is a black man, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall and 155 pounds. It is unclear what he was wearing at the time of his disappearance.
Police urge anyone who sees Harris or has information as to his whereabouts to call their local police department or 911 immediately.
