DULUTH -- Duluth will ring in the new year with a surprise.
The city is hosting a first-ever New Year's Eve Extravaganza, but officials won't say how they will count down to midnight.
"The company that designed the Peach Drop is creating a one-of-a-kind celebration for the city of Duluth," a press release said. "That's all we are going to say for now ... Don't miss this incredible experience!"
The free event will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Duluth Festival Center Amphitheater and Town Green.
But officials are trying to raise some money, looking for sponsors and giving citizens an opportunity to have their name etched on the "capture the Spirit of Duluth" wall for $100.
The event will include entertainment, food and music.
