SWAT incident ends peacefully

LAWRENCEVILLE -- SWAT team negotiators talked a Lawrenceville man holding his girlfriend captive into a peaceful surrender Thursday morning, authorities said.

Kyle Roubaud, 22, threatened to harm himself with a knife, refused to surrender and would not release his companion when Sheriff's Department deputies attempted to serve a warrant at his Holland Park Apartments residence, authorities said.

Roubaud was wanted on a parole violation, said Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais.

Deputies beckoned the Sheriff's Department SWAT team, and negotiators spoke with Roubaud by phone for about 30 minutes.

"A few moments later, he came out and surrendered peacefully," Bourbonnais said.

No injuries were reported.

Roubaud was booked at the Gwinnett County Jail for allegedly violating conditions of his parole. Bourbonnais said no additional charges had been pressed as of Thursday afternoon.
