Fire damages vacant home

LAWRENCEVILLE -- An early morning blaze caused heavy damage Tuesday to a home in the 1000 block of Casanova Court in Lawrenceville.

A neighbor reported smoke and flames coming from the two-story home about 3:30 a.m. Firefighters had the blaze controlled about 30 minutes later, said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Thomas Rutledge.

The fire caused extensive damage to the front of the house and its garage area. Neighbors said the house has not been lived in recently, Rutledge said.

No one was at the house when police and fire crews arrived, and no injuries were reported, Rutledge said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
