JOHNS CREEK -- Brookwood won the Titan Duals at Northview High School on Saturday.
The Broncos defeated Redan (51-18), Lakeside-DeKalb (54-18), Alpharetta (54-24), Chattahoochee (42-33), and Whitewater (36-30) to win the 10-team tournament.
Troy Long (112 pounds), Jonathan Daniel (119), Chris Roman (171) and Vincent Ogbonnia ( 285) were 5-0 for the Broncos. Sean Savice (125) was 4-1 and Greg Cordle (160) was 3-2.
Bears place fourth at Duluth
DULUTH -- First-year program Mountain View placed fourth out of 10 teams at the Duluth Duals on Saturday. The Bears went 3-2 on the day, beating Duluth (56-27), Meadowcreek (63-15) and GAC (48-30) and losing to Lambert (49-29) and West Hall (52-23).
Dallas Brown, Thomas Adams and Radu Roscot went 5-0, and Cameron Rylander and Zonta Laney were 4-1.
Parkview sixth at Southern Slam
GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Parkview placed sixth out of 31 schools at the Southern Slam hosted by Eastside High School in South Carolina.
The Panthers had six wrestlers place, led by Kevin Ulmer's second-place finish at 130 pounds. Eric Kavis (103) and Clint Jones (140) were fourth, Matt Johnson (215) was fifth and Quade Sewell (119) and Bradley Smith (285) were sixth.
Bryant off to strong start
South Gwinnett's Darius Bryant is off to a strong start this season for the Comets. The 130-pound Bryant leads the team with an 11-1 record and seven pins. Teammate Josh Cormer (135) also has seven pins and an 8-3 record. Ben Wilhite (215) is 8-4 this season.
