PREP ROUNDUP: Clements' buzzer-beater gives North boys victory

JOHNS CREEK -- The North Gwinnett boys basketball team squeaked out a 58-57 win at Chattahoochee on Friday night, thanks to some last-second heroics by A.J. Clements.

The Bulldogs were down two with 3.5 seconds left before getting the ball to Clements, who made a 3-pointer as time expired. The sophomore guard finished with 12 points.

North, which improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 7-AAAAA, also got 14 points each from Cyrus Lavant and Clayton Williams.


Brookwood 57, Dacula 56

DACULA -- Keith Macaulay's only basket of the game -- a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left -- gave Brookwood a 57-56 win over Dacula on Friday.

Taylor Mann led the Broncos (3-2, 1-1 in Region 8-AAAAA) with 16 points and Thomas Higginbotham added 14.

Xavier Okoro had 12 points and 14 rebounds for the Falcons (1-4).

Central Gwinnett 67, Parkview 54

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Central Gwinnett got 21 points from Jordan Adams and remained unbeaten with a 67-54 win over 8-AAAAA foe Parkview on Friday night.

Central (5-0, 2-0) also got good games from Brian Williams (15 points) and Kyron Anderson (11 points). The Black Knights led 53-33 after three quarters and held on for the win.

Parkview was led in scoring by Brandon Oluyede (16 points), Trey Sexton (13) and Delano Spencer (11).

Grayson 57, Shiloh 54

SNELLVILLE -- Javarris Smith had 17 points and Ciavy Wiles scored 11 as Grayson defeated Shiloh 57-54 in an 8-AAAAA game on Friday. The Rams improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the region.

Norcross 71, Collins Hill 58

NORCROSS -- Jeremy Lamb scored 29 points as Norcross defeated Collins Hill 71-58 in 7-AAAAA play Friday night.

Saah Nimley led Collins Hill with 24 points.

Mill Creek 72, North Forsyth 28

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek raced out to a 41-6 halftime lead on the way to a 72-28 win over North Forsyth in 7-AAAAA play on Friday.

The Hawks (5-0, 2-0) had four scorers in double figures, led by 16 each from Kyle Speller and Jon Adler. Mill Creek's Paul Evans scored 13 and Brandon Hayman added 11 points.

Peachtree Ridge 104, South Forsyth 45

CUMMING -- Thirteen different players scored in Peachtree Ridge's 104-45 rout of South Forsyth in a 7-AAAAA game Friday night.

Benny Johnson (15 points), C.J. Blackwell (14) and James Thomas (12) led the Lions (3-0, 2-0).

Northview 61, Duluth 59

JOHNS CREEK -- Avantae Hall had 17 points and Zane Cobb scored 13, but Duluth (2-2, 0-2 in 7-AAAAA) still lost a close one Friday night at Northview, 61-59.

Wesleyan 69, Columbus-Hardaway 51

NORCROSS -- Griffin Schamp scored 20 points and Wes Caver added 19 as Wesleyan took care of Hardaway 69-51. Shane Smith scored 10 for the Wolves (4-1).

North Atlanta Flight 59, Greater Gwinnett 54

POWDER SPRINGS -- Despite 20 points and 17 rebounds from Bruce Burkholder, Greater Gwinnett Christian lost to the North Atlanta Flight 59-54 on Friday night. The Barons fall to 6-2 on the season.

Greater Gwinnett defeated Strong Rock 53-51 Thursday night behind 16 points, 15 rebounds and five steals from Burkholder. Jared Barajas also scored 16 in that win.

Apalachee 80, Loganville 74

LOGANVILLE -- Reggie Battle's 14 points led four double-figure scorers Friday night as Apalachee beat Loganville 80-74 for its first win of the season.

The Wildcats also got strong games from Nelson Gibson (13 points), DeVaughn Kilgore (12 points) and Chris Smith (10 points, nine rebounds).


Brookwood 65, Dacula 56

DACULA -- Autumn Adams and Katie Mallow scored 18 points each as Brookwood topped Dacula 65-56 Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA action. The Broncos improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the region.

Dacula (3-2, 1-1) got a game-high 23 points from China Vinson and eight points from April Green.

Meadowcreek 50, South Gwinnett 45

SNELLVILLE -- Angel Alexander had 19 points and Freddie Banks scored 14 on Friday night, powering Meadowcreek to a 50-45 win over South Gwinnett.

Kiara Baker led the Comets with 16 points.

Shiloh 55, Grayson 45

SNELLVILLE -- Paden Smith had a perfect shooting night as Shiloh defeated Grayson 55-45 Friday night in an 8-AAAAA game. Smith had 16 points on 6-for-6 shooting, including four 3-pointers.

Alyssa Aitken had 13 points and 10 rebounds for Shiloh (5-1, 2-0) and Pilar Smith had 10 points. Sherry Mujkanovic added seven points and seven rebounds.

Grayson (2-3, 0-2) got a game-high 25 points and five steals from Taren White and 13 points from Anela Durmic.

Parkview 67, Central Gwinnett 39

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Katie Carroll scored 19 points as Parkview defeated host Central Gwinnett 67-39 on Friday night.

Erika Joseph contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (5-0, 1-0 in 8-AAAAA).

Norcross 59, Collins Hill 41

NORCROSS -- Norcross jumped out to a 40-9 halftime lead, then cruised to a 59-41 win over Collins Hill in a 7-AAAAA game Friday night.

Emaree Cobb led the Blue Devils (4-0, 2-0) with 16 points. Briana Jordan added 15 points, four steals and three assists.

Collins Hill (2-3, 0-2) was led by Shawnie Smith (nine points) and Katie Lewis (eight points).

Peachtree Ridge 48, South Forsyth 46

CUMMING -- Ciicii Buford hit two free throws in the final seconds to give Peachtree Ridge a 48-46, 7-AAAAA win over South Forsyth.

Buford's two free throws gave her 10 points to go with her six rebounds. Brittany Jack had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Erika Waters led the Lions (5-1, 2-0) with 17 points.

Mill Creek 50, North Forsyth 30

HOSCHTON -- Up just 22-20 at halftime, Mill Creek pulled away for a 50-30 win over North Forsyth in a 7-AAAAA game Friday night.

Moneshia Simmons led the Hawks (3-1, 2-0) with 17 points and six rebounds. Tamarr Williams scored 15 and Jac' Weathers added 10 points and seven rebounds.

Duluth 55, Northview 39

JOHNS CREEK -- Aliya Thomas' 18 points lifted Duluth to a 55-39, 7-AAAAA road win Friday night over Northview. Kayla Nolan and Darlesha Boles added nine points each for the Wildcats (2-2, 1-1).

Chattahoochee 53, North 37

JOHNS CREEK -- North Gwinnett lost a 7-AAAAA game to Chattahoochee 53-37 Friday night. Stephanie Wheeler scored 10 for the Bulldogs (3-2, 0-2).

Wesleyan 84, Hardaway 47

NORCROSS -- A well-rounded game from senior Erin Hall helped Wesleyan to an 84-47 win over Hardaway on Friday night. Hall had 18 points, six assists and six steals.

The Wolves (4-0) also got 16 points and seven rebounds from Holli Wilkins and 12 points and 10 rebounds from Grace Leah Baughn. Kaelyn Causell added 10 points and seven boards.

Hebron 47, Providence 16

LILBURN -- Hebron Christian defeated Providence Christian 47-16 Friday night behind 14 points, eight rebounds and two steals from Jalisa Tucker. Tai Stringer had 11 points and five steals for the Lions (3-1).
